Of all the Wellington Clubs that could have potentially done well in a National Tournament I would have thought that Western Suburbs would likely have one of the strongest U17 Teams in New Zealand. Certainly Wests have consistently performed well nationally at a Junior level over past years. Karori are also usually fairly handy at U17 level as well. It's a pity Wellington Clubs were not more widely represented at the tournament.

My son is 15, almost 16, and his local football club (in Wellington Region) never mentioned anything to us about a National U17 Tournament. Perhaps they didn't know about it or the club made a decision early on not to participate.

Mind you, with football training for College and Club, not to mention FTC and NTC, it's all been very hectic so far this year.
