Also adding into Kilbernie for being mud - you think the groundsmen could move the pitch 5 metres, so the sprinkler head and dead patch of grass was off the field.

Also if you play after that damn 2nd team, there's no hot water. i hope you lot get transferred tomorrow, if I don't get a hot shower after the game I will die

Just an observation but why is it that all the stinking, minging, muddy, poorly maintained shambles pitches seem to be in WCC...?

The worst I can think of in the Hutt is probably the Heretaunga Ground that lazy News was whinging about earlier.

More teams per ground in wgtn? Plus the hutt has a few grounds on flood plains between stop banks and drain better.

Best grounds played on this year has been Alex 1 so far, first game of the season so in good nick. Newlands was ok the one game I played on there, missed the last one, as it was early in the season; just the cricket block takes up a decent sized area of the pitch and had a hole just big enough for a foot and about 3-5cm deep in the middle of the pitch. Others havent been great, Wakefield 4 and Raroa (which will probably host most of our homes games)

Good point News

5th worst: Happy Valley
4th worst: Velodrome
3rd worst: Kilbirnie Park
2nd worst: Raroa Park
Worstest: Cobham Park (the sooner this becomes an indoor arena the better)

Cobham is 20 times better than Crawford, have played on them both in the last few weeks. Cobham is flatish compared with  Crawford which is full of holes. If anyone is playing there this week keep an eye out for one of our players who is still lost down one of the craters in the field.

Brian Heath has been the best pitch in the Hutt for years.

Having said that, as it's been biffing it down all day in the Hutt I suspect they are the grounds that will cause cancellations won't be the ones we are slagging here.

Oh, another one.  Grenada North... dreadful.

In Grenada Noth's defence, it is Tawas training ground so used 4 nights a week

Adventure Park was not too bad last weekend. The gales force wind didn't stop us playing champagne football.

Its no longer a problem.

Indeed - watched Porirua v IBU Masters - goalkeeper scored from a kick out that probably never got higher than 8-10 ft  - but went into the goals with the speed of a well taken shot from 25yds!

I'm surprised wakefield in general but especially number three dosen't get a mention dosen't hold the water well at all and there a massive lakes all around the field. and the constant chance of being peppered with golf balls

Played a few games at Hutt Park. Pitches 1 and 2 looking really good, number two in particular, even after all the rain it held up really well. Not bad for a first season pitch (take note WCC), and we were blessed with hot water, warm pies and cold beer afterwards.

A good time to re-boot following recent Central League thread discussion.

The playing landscape has definitely changed for the better with the proliferation of turfs around the area now which has taken pressure off a lot of the grass surfaces. That said, many of the shark holes mentioned 7 years ago, are still shark holes!

As mentioned in the CL thread, at least the pitches at CL level are all suitable (at the very least) for football to be played on. Back then the pitches had far too much of an influence on the game.

Fuck this stupid game

Agreed at CL level (now that Tawa are gone). At Cap prem level things start getting a bit sketchy (Redwood, Kelburn Park) below that the fun commences!

Wakefield 3 or 4 are both rubbish. Raroa as well.

Redwood really isn't that bad anymore.

Wilton is pretty crap. With other pitches with cricket wickets in the middle they have at least tried to cover them with something but at Wilton the cricket strip is just removed and a slab of the pitch left missing. We're using Kaiwharawhara for training which isn't great but don't think it's used for matches.

Melrose used to be like that. In Auckland the council have specs stating that a winter cover must be put over crushed rock cricket wickets. It's so unsafe without it, I really don't know how they get away with that

kura park is nice….

played many a game there VS Tawa and not many on Redwood over the last 10 years

good sportsmanship and fair playing field is all we ask for

but all we get is talk and goal posts moving

Last time we played there it was after the snow a couple of years back and it was absolutely fudgeed.

Before they installed the artificial turf the run-off from the top field turned the one below into a stagnant bog and every season I played there as a kid I came down with monster pus-filled boils on both legs that were useful only in giving me days off from school.

The lower pitches are still pretty horrid but not stagnant.  The goalposts often sink though so you have goals that are 8 feet tall at one end of the crossbar and 7 feet tall on the other.

Not as bad a few yers ago where we got transferred to Granada North and the goal at one end was 5 feet tall.  Had to pull the goal out and fetch some training goals that were on another pitch to use.

Karori 3 wasn't too bad today. They filled it with some sort of sand and gravel to help the drainage and it was pretty good considering the recent weather. Reasonably firm though the penalty area at the far end was full of mushrooms so not sure what has been put into the soil!

Not so much, no. Played there a few weeks ago when it was hard and very patchy. Apparently since then it's gotten worse with the bit of rain we've had.

must have transferred games off there last weekend as we had two IB home games moved to KP

Karori Park 1 an absolute disgrace on Saturday. Drainage marks every 30cm with small stones included. Can't believe Capital Football allowed games to be played on it, especially Cap 1 when the game between Karori and Tawa was scheduled for Karori Park 3.

Sure let's let players play on a pitch where slide tackles result in players getting cut knees and stones in their wounds. Absolute disgrace, especially given there are other grounds (including the rest of Karori Park) that could have been played on.
