not sure myself, the nz set up in that era wasn't what it is today but I don't know enough to offer any definitive reason. As much as I supported the all whites when I was younger I didn't know a lot about the back ground of many players. unless they had something to do with Kevin Fallon or Gisborne City.

Wharf beat Mar 2-1. Very different team to what they played in first round apparently and included Fifi. Looking at some pics I'm surprised Mar didn't need to change their kit.

Not likely to happen. Its so much more intelligent to whine like a little girl when you get stripped of points rather than own up to your mistake.

The game ended in a 2 - 2 draw

Tough game for us, very happy to come out with the points today.  Helped by a bit of a brain explosion from a Lower Hutt player to give us a last minute penalty and our keeper keeping us in it by saving a penalty earlier on.

Lower Hutt are a nice footballing side and with the new addition of the Striker who played for Island Bay a few weeks ago are a very good unit. They play some nice passing football but our guys dug in and ground it out (although we should have put a few chances away).

We lost our Centre back early on and had to reorganise which disrupted us a bit and they had us under the cosh for most of the first half. To put more pressure on us we then lost one of our midfielders and our right back in the 2nd half to injury as well.

Proud of how the boys put their heads down and grafted away even when we went 2-1 down.

Not nice conditions to play in but no real agro at all during the game which was a credit to both sides.

Shout out to the ref and the linesmen as well, top performance from them. The best officials we have had this season.

I can see that the return match at the end of the season is going to be a barrel full of laughs.

Should we bring our own body guards or will Karori supply them? Will the beer be spiked (if it is make sure you use the good drugs)? Will we make it out of the changing rooms alive? Will someone try and play a toddler at centre forward and claim later they didn't know the rules?
Who will direct the movie? Who will play me (I'm hoping for Lindsey Lohan)? Who will play Mr Mike G? Kirk Douglas perhaps, is he old enough to do the part justice I wonder?

Ah, the drama that is lower league amateur football, crisis in Syria my ass, this is where it's at.

I wonder what the rationale is? Wharfies keep winning Cap 1( I think) I wonder how strange it would be to have two teams in cap prem.

Wharfies came third last year.

I think having a limit to the top grades ensures variety in clubs at that level and keeps structure of reserve teams.  If you had two teams from same club in higher grade the line blurs between the teams. How did Uni manage it a few years back when their top 2 teams were in Cap 2?

I'd imagine the reason it's allowed lower down is for non club (ie. Only associated with club because they have to) teams to play high up(ish).

2-1 win to us over previous league leaders BNU.

BNU started well, they are a well drilled side and played some very good passing football.  We were under the pump for the first 20 or so minutes so it was inevitable that they would score, came from a deep corner that beat the keeper and was put in at the far post.

We started to come back into it in the later part of the first half and equalised after some good movement of the ball.

2nd half had chances for both sides. We had a couple of one on ones with the keeper but to his credit he stood strong and kept us out. BNU had a number of good shots that were well saved by our keeper as well as a goal line clearance by our centre back.

The game was in the balance until late in the second half when we scored the winner. BNU then threw everything at us which made for an exciting (and on my part a nervous) finish.

Some good football played by both sides and all in a pretty good spirit which is what we all like to see. Thanks for hosting us BNU it was an enjoyable afternoon out.

We actually played really poor passing football. The amount of turn overs in possession was horrendous. Probably the worst game we've played all season.

Don't put yourselves down, I thought during the first 20 minutes you guys were knocking the ball around ok and caused us a few problems. From the sideline I was starting to get a little worried especially with the pace of your movement and the fact you did walk through our midfield early on. You moved the ball out wide nicely. It was the final pass that let you down a bit.

We tend to either start with a hiss and a roar or do the opposite and not turn up for the first 15 minutes or so. We eventually played our way into the game but even when we went 2-1 up near the end it was still not over but for the clearance off the line it could have ended up all square. It took a bit of grit on our part to grind out the result.

I'm impressed with how Tom has developed playing with you guys. He played for my development squad last year and was always a good player but he looked very comfortable at right back.

Absolute spanking for us today.

Seatoun outplayed us all over the park and gave us a footballing lesson. We had no answer to them and played our worst game of the season.

The only good thing is that we don't drop down the table by more than one place (assuming Karori win tomorrow), if they lose I think we stay where we are.

Congrats to Seatoun for the win, back to the drawing board for us.

Wharf 3 Island bay 3. Think we dominated large parts of the game, we conceded some shocking goals. Easily could have scored a dozen. That said we were lucky not to lose in the last minute as IB hit the post. The refereeing was once again shocking, players booked for not taking a throw in from the correct position, an IB lad booked for getting clattered late, general balls ups with simple decisions. Very poor indeed.

If by dominate you mean send long balls and hope for the best then yeah sure you dominated. Speaking of shocking goals how about your third almost direct off a long throw - probably your best weapon all game.
Agree about refereeing tho. Very odd.

I thought we were on the end of a good old fashioned thrashing on Saturday but look what happened at the KCU-Lower
Hutt game on Sunday.

9-1 is a bit of a demolition in anyones book; Lower Hutt are a very good side but I wouldn't have thought they were 8 goals better than KCU.

KCU are not a bad side by any means so it would be good to get some feedback on the game. A bad day at the office for KCU or just a very good one for Lower Hutt?
