Imray bought a new iPad when he signed for Mar. Coincidence? :)
Central League 2013
Some Kids (even adults) can't afford to pay subs to play football. Meanwhile other players are being paid $100+ per game to play average football and place mid-lower table in the central league.
Why do they get their 'expenses' covered?

Sponsors and/or supporters money may be.
"Miramar Rangers have yet to be beaten in Central League play this season and lie second on the points table behind the only other unbeaten side, Wellington Olympic."
This from the article. I guess the headline is alluding to Miramar being one of the top sides. More interesting is the photo of Masterton AFC's home ground. Now that does look rural. I reckon the centre circle was roped off with a couple of sheep grazing in it.
In regards to paying players,..... But .......and it is not detrimental to local footy, who really cares???
Better ways for money to be spent. Cutting junior subs and increasing junior participation as a result etc. even lowering senior fees a bit. Invest in some junior coaching I suppose (admittedly that's a bit fine). A few seniors and juniors parents probably don't like the fact their money is going toward paying the first team.
But yeah some valid points there too.
Saying its just the way it is, is pretty dismissive of the problem. I do understand though that it is a natural choice - paying players is almost something of a dominant strategy, when actually clubs would all be better off if nobody pays players. The problem is if a couple of clubs pays players, other clubs are better off following suit.

Doesn't mean there isn't better areas in which $1100+ per week could be spent at the club.
But yeah think that's all there is to say. Like I said, its a natural choice given the situation, but I'm in no doubt we'd be better off if no club paid players.
I really only started off being my usual sarcastic self, but it turned a bit serious.

Only the ones who think they are missing out.
In the last years miramar had womens teams I put close to $15000.00 in. No player payments were made just the costs associated with the womens game.
Back to the real topic big weekend with C/L and C/cup games. Have not looked at the draw fully but the back up of mirvncr and MirvWai will be tough. With the travel NCR has will it help Wainui on Monday . Petone Wairarapa Olympic and L/Hutt all have C/cup fixtures I think.
Wairarapa have a tough couple of days in front of them too, with Olympic (CL) and then Miramar (CC) on Saturday and Monday respectively.

Any new from Wairarapa v Olympic ..
Wairarapa united 2 - Olympic 0
Wairarapa united 2 - Olympic 0
Apperantely Olympics coach got his matching orders too. Not confirmed. Also a red to another Olympic player
Not good Olympic have enough trouble with player numbers.
Heard today Wairarapa changed to a Blue strip to play Olympic and this was not picked up in the C/Football C/League mid week teams notification and confirmation sheet. (By Olympic - edit)
Mick was sent from the bench for protesting a call.
Which player got sent?
No, did not get that - they have a number of players who fire as quick as a WSW Flare!
Confirmed about the blue strip. Wairarapa player on the left
Memo to all C/ League and Prem teams don't assume. Points are everything after the game but get the chance to play for them. STRESS VALLEY!
Does the Rapa playing blue cost the club in points or something like that? Seems strange that you would just play in a completely different strip.
It is no offence if they advised C/football on the mid week player schedule. Think it just caught Oly out.

Led to believe I have made an incorrect statement about the weekly C/L player schedule. ?
Can Miramar bounce back and take down Olympic.
Or will the loss of players on either side decide the game.
^^^ Yes. Chettleburgh back from suspension. Have the U-20's left yet?
Think they've played their last games for clubs.
Top of the table clash tomorrow, will be interesting. I think Mar will win.
Upper Hutt v Lower Hutt at Maidstone at 3:30, preceded by Upper Hutt women's Central League Side v Seatoun at 1:30.
These are of course merely curtain raiser to the Cap 4 , bottom of the Table Clash between Upper Hutt and Lower Huttt at 5:30!
A veritable festival of football at Maidstone!
