Can you be more explicit about the nirvana you seek, or how you would implement it, or is it just a kum-by-yah pipe dream?
Not the first time I have been accused of being a hippy, and it's ok I don't find it particularly offensive.
My Nirvana, great band, is where clubs have excellent junior and youth programmes, where players are trained up and make their way through the ranks to hopefully the Premier League. Sure there will be movement for a variety of reasons, however money shouldn't come into it. Mainland looked closely into the legality of such payments, and it is made clear that it is not ok. We then don't have players holding clubs to ransom continually asking for more each year, and other teams not getting anything.
If we were handing out vouchers for $? worth of petrol, this does mean that big money (wherever it came from) is being spent on one team at the expense of others. One rumour was that a player was on $350 a game plus a goal bonus, which could be almost $10k a year. Not a bad little extra to not declare on your end of year tax return. Yes Tech are really good at getting funding, sometimes being able to do it as a number of different football clubs!
