For our players that's a huge saving compared to previous subs plus FTC fees and they have reduced travel costs as well. Added to that the subs can be discounted with some volunteer work for the club. It's a win/win don't you think Nathan.
For some of the players, for sure Gordon, but usually 2-3 at most make FTC at 13th/14th Grade from what I've observed and are required to pay the $500-600 depending on how many terms you do, but it will now be expected for all 16 players.
My 13 yr old plays for Nomads, so that amount isn't an issue for me personally, Nomads have indicated it won't be anything like $865 in the brief conversation I've had with them in the last week, but noted it will be substantially more than 2017 subs due to the 'Academy' requirement.
My 10 yr old at Waimak will be coached by the same guys as last year with the same number of trainings but cost has gone up by around $200.
I realise this is the way MF have deemed necessary but there will be plenty of parents who will struggle to pay surely and yes I take your point re volunteering and I'm sure there will be weekly auto-payment options etc.
Will be fascinating to see what happens.
I note Waimak havent put it up on their FB page yet...(unless I've missed it)
