No double ups they just won't play the league games on Sat.
Mainland Premier League (Part 1)
This is my favourite quote from the NZA vs Jordan thread...
Clapham has faded as the match has worn on.
So he's now more of a faint mandarin colour and less molten lava?
Back to the Uni decision, the press release says they will be credited 15 points of the 28 they were deducted. They were on 15, and I guess they were taken back to -13? I thought they were on -12 but never mind.
If they add the 15 points to their -12, that comes out at 3 points, and they have since won games since the Chatham cup weekend on 11 May (I'm guessing 3 games?) so shouldn't they go up to 12 points?
It could be a big deal with them not playing Chch Utd again so theoretically if Utd don't drop points against the other six teams they will win the league and get promoted. Uni at least have a chance against the other teams as they have to play them.
Nelson Col to be too strong for Waimak I'd say.
Home advantage and a large local crowd will get them over the line.
Interesting weekend in the Chatham Cup as the same weekend as a few uni exams.
In Div 1, Varsity still be too good for Hornby should the Canterbury Uni exams be on same day as Otagos.

At the time I am sure Univ at 13 points (4 wins and 1 draw from the five games), which they then loss, back to zero then had the penalty of - 3 points per game applied which left them on -15.
The successful protest of the -15 points no longer in place so with the three wins, from rounds 6 to 8) puts them on the current 9 points.
Maybe I should stay away from maths.
yes scottie road, seen them play?? Any team that can go 8 games unbeaten, conceeding just 1 and along the way cruising by speaking to some deserves a bit of credit..
Your comments would appear that you dont know much about football.. A) Any player can make the most of opportunities if and when provided ( think you will find this player is not starting ). B) I'm pretty sure this season is a hell of a lot different from last in terms of player quality, coaching and technical support C) They already comfortably beat a MPL side, and think you will find they would more than compete in MPL next season. D) And their reserves lost to Western MPL 3-2.. Think you will find they deserve more credit! Another jealous ChCh United or Waimak supporter maybe?
Parklands United | Christchurch | Grant, Colin | Cancelled | 2013-05-27 |

Maybe cancelled for breaching Mainland rules.

Jordan Halligan gone back to CashmereTech.
Maybe not good enough to make the starting line up in the Nomads MPL team and could get the same game time in PDL from Daddy at CT.
Coastal should have a good run at Tulett this weekend with or without Ash as Nomads best centre back pairing are not available.
One with Futsal Whites and one injured again, lucky it came when the Halswell game had gone as all 3 subs used [didn't stay on this time] but no yellow for a late challange by Matt Smith.
Played last time together in MPL in the win over Bays and the last 65 mins against Halswell, why they didn't start in that formation v Halswell is baffling to me. Nomads needed to be stronger in both full back positions so having the strongest CB pairing would have helped with cover of full backs.

Last time I looked transfer had been declined. If transfer does go ahead then will not be playing any time soon as has already played for his two clubs in a season.
Going back to Cashmere counts as a 3rd club? Or it it limit of 2 transfers?

Under the rules counts as a third club.

Think he may have expected to walk straight into the starting line up at Nomads and then when that didn't happen just decided to bugger straight back off... bit silly as Nomads are short of midfielders at the moment too due to injuries with Preston Bell having been out the last few games injured, and James Deehan going off last week too.
In terms of the back line at Nomads, they should still have 2 of the 3 Centre Backs from last year available for this weekend so don't count them out yet..... although a game like the English Cup tie with goals galore will be good for the crowd

Off Mainland Website:https://www.mainlandfootball.co.nz/index.php?id=44&tx_ttnews[tt_news]=1147&tx_ttnews[backPid]=1&cHash=e569b160bb
It reads like this -
"After a Board appeal decision, the Universities Football Club Division 1 side will be credited with 15 of the 28 competition points it was deducted after playing an ineligible player for the first five rounds of the 2013 season.
Under regulation 1 of Mainland Football rules, the Board of Mainland Football is required to hear an appeal case made by a club. Having heard the appeal case, the Board has confirmed, that under the playing regulations, the Mainland Football competition manager has the ability to sanction teams who have played ineligible players at any stage of season. The Board also confirmed that the decision to forfeit points for all matches in which anunregistered player took field was also the correct one.
The appeal panel did however, find that the competitions regulation providing for an additional penalty of deduction of points for each relevant game/s was inconsistent with NZF rules, therefore the additional penalty was rescinded and UCAFC will be reinstated with 15 points of the original 28 points deducted. Under the playing regulations UCAFC will be fined in respect of the offending matches, in lieu of the additional points penalty. As a result of this case and to ensure the Federation playing regulations are consistent with NZF regulations, the Mainland Board has instituted a review of its competition regulations."
Common sense prevails. Now get on with it on the paddock. Varsities now on 9 points, 4 behind Waimak, CHCh Utd, Hornby and the mighty Turtles. Wicked.
"inconsistent with NZF rules" .........
Constitutionally MF is to comply with NZF rules, NZF subsequently with FIFA rules; that's the hierarchy.
No provision in FIFA rules to "opt out" of the ones that don't suit local competition (Wonder why??). Dual Registration is another one of those brainfarts that I suspect will be next to bite MF in the arse. If they are so keen on faffing about with rules, their two Lawyer Board members may prove to come in handy.
Sounds like you have an awesome board down there

At the end of the day, whether they meant to or not, they fielded an illegal player for those games. If they are able to appeal this and get their points back then what is the point of registering anyone at your club? You may as well just pick a squad of 16 you want each game and play them! Then when it is appealed just use this case as a precedent.
From what ive heard, Uni think the guy didn't play all 5 games so are looking to re-coup the points from the ones he missed out on. Comes back to team sheets and that they should be sent into MF after each game.
On a side note, I'm playing against the Uni div 1 lads tomorrow so see how that goes

If you read NZF rules which is clearly available there is the allowance for ' clerical errors ' for transfer's within NZ, which from my understanding is exactly the case here. So there definately may be grounds on this as it doesn't appear that this clause is in Mainland's rules but is in NZF's..
I also hear that there is a fair bit of evidence that Uni have of the club that pushed this issue as far as they did playing more than the allowed foreign players.. We haven't yet seen them lay any complaints, however Karma can be a biarch, we all know that!
The team card issue is completely valid, what is the point in not having to hand them in and then technically only having to hold onto them for 48 hours?? Conveniently allows for the ' pleading ignorance ' outside this timeframe if a complaint has been laid. Considering technically Uni did not have to supply team cards and appears like they were completely open and honest despite little if any evidence to the contrary, they have shot themselves in the foot by their own admission.. Very sad state of affairs

But in the University case they required an International transfer.

Care to explain why? At the end of the day Uni have fielded an illegal player..... I've known teams over here and in the UK that have done the same and been punished accordingly.
Mainland should take responsibility in the fact they do not collect team cards and check them, after all they employ enough staff! But the bottom line is that teams should ensure all players are legal before they play them. This isn't hard to do as many coaches have had to do... including myself!!!! Ensure players are eligible before playing them!
As I said earlier though, I'm all for the points Uni have already got back..... and to be honest, from here I still see them winning the league!
