Coastal Spirit Football Club is excited to announce the appointment of Korouch Monsef as the clubs First Team Coach for the upcoming 2011 season.
Monsef, who has been involved with Canterbury United senior mens and youth teams over the past 5 seasons, will replace Mick Curry at the helm and lead the newly formed club in its inaugural season in the Matsons Premier League.
Coastal Spirit gained promotion for next season after defeating Nelson club Richmond Athletic 5-4 on aggregate in the 2 leg promotion play-off series.
Monsef looks forward to heading a coaching staff that will include the clubs Football Development Manager, Gareth Turnbull, as Assistant Coach/Conditioner and club stalwart Paul Hughes.
Monsef claims the focus for the upcoming year will be on establishing a strong senior team culture and strengthened playing squad, which is capable of competing comfortably within the mens premier league environment. We also have a number of talented youth players at the club which we will be looking to gradually introduce as the season gains momentum.
A much bigger challenge for the club in the coming years will be to harness the support of the Linfield Sport group to continue to develop even better programs and services for both players and coaches to reach their goals. Both Linfield and CSFC have been very supportive in investing in our coaches network and scholarship program over the past 18 months. We are hoping that through our coaching network we will be able to retain and up-skill our best club coaches to create a natural succession plan for both men and women within the club
It's an exciting yet important year for the club, as we must ensure that we continue to build on the framework and development projects that have been installed over the past three years, as well as ensuring we solidify our place in the MPL for futures seasons added FDM Gareth Turnbull.
The club is also in a unique and fortunate position within our demographic to align ourselves with the new NZF Whole of Football Plan immediately, to ensure continuity and intent to willingly grow the game in line with the structures set down by New Zealand Football.
The club will begin pre season training in early January, building into the pre season tournament it hosts annually in February/March, which will be held at Linfield Park for the first time.
