I watch quite a few of the mpl games and there are some decent players in the league. Thought it might be interesting to see who everyones top 5 strikers, top 5 midfielders, top 5 defenders and top 3 gk were in the league. See how many of these players actually get picked in the cant utd team! Just a bit of fun cheers

Just because a player looks good in the MPL does not mean they can make the step up for the ASB Premiership. The pace of the game at the ASB Premiership is way faster and the defence alot tighter. Sometimes the higher you play it is what you do off the park is just as important s what you do in the on the park.

How high is the standard on the Mainland PFL compared to other top leagues around the country. Having watched the league (the old Southern League, Super Club then the Christchurch League before the Mainland PFL started) week in week out for over thirty years in Christchurch I think the over all standard has dropped in recent years.

It is ten year since the Mainland as been played and there were two season were a team failed to win a single point.

Hell I have heard in the pasT that some MPL sides have only had less than half the squad show up for training had a quick kick around then into the clubrooms for a beer.

When was the last time a Mainland side made the Chatham Cup Final? And what was the score?

We have players playing in the league that do not know the Laws of the games, how many times do you see a player make a bad foul and the ref blows it up with the player, or team mate yelling  'but ref I won the ball".

If the Canterbury United board are serious about winning the Premiership they will have to finance several imports.
