This morning's Press sorta rubs the women's default debacle in a bit don't you think? Mainland premier women's league leaders FC Twenty 11 continued their winning ways after Woolston Technical defaulted.
As they say a win is a win. I see that there was a default in the Nelson Division 1 on Saturday as well.
Not at MPL level. There should be no defaults ever surely? Lower grades I can understand but in the MPL's it's a joke. What would the sponsors think? Why would they bother putting money up for some jackass competition where teams decide where and when they'll turn up? This sets a very bad precedent. Surely Tech could have asked for a deferment? To much hinges on these games at this level such as goal difference etc to allow a default. Totally disrespectful to every other club in the competition and simply not acceptable. This seriously calls in Mainlands ability and commitment to run a fair and viable competition. It will be interesting to see if any further action is taken. I suspect not. Absolute farce.
