And my game in Masters 4 this week is against a bunch of w!@#kers who seem to think that charging into a GK at every opportunity is OK - but we still drew playing with 10 men against them last time out :)

Seriously, what is the point of Masters 3, 4 and +45? 35 teams of old crocks re-living past glories; instead of attending a Premier League game. If my maths is right +500 old farts could attend 4 MPL games each Saturday arvo - that would increase atmosphere, club coffers and surely lead to more informed forum debate.

So lads, are we prepared to give up our Masters teams to support our young guns?

Nice in theory but will never happen. They love the game and should be encouraged to continue with it (500 x whatever mainland charges them = big money if ya wanna look at it that way).

If we had the facilities in chch I'd like to see the schoolboys comp played friday nights under lights, a true premier competition with all the best players playing for their schools 1st XI (look at the press cup for rugby, its an awesome comp with huge support)

Saturday morning would be junior club competitions, saturday arvo senior comps div 2 down to masters and Sunday would be Div 1, PDL & MPL.

By having the above system everybody wins...schools get all their best players, clubs keep their kids in junior comps and the premier competitions in senior footy get the centre stage with all members of the club outside of those squads able to come down and support.

I do agree with the bit you say about needing to improve the atmosphere/crowd numbers at top flight footy in town
