Div I is a farce at the moment with Western having their 3rd team finish 3rd in a 6 team league.
Promotes strrong enough teams for MPL promotion, Yeah Right.
Coastal being an exception, should never have been down there, but won't start that again.
Mainland are trying to make Div1 a viable league, well that won't happen if Nomads start putting decent scores past a few teams in the early games next year.
Remember with a part reserve team they beat top div 1 team FC2011 this year 6-0. Only in one game did FC2011 [or any other team] score 6 goals in that league for 9 wins & 6 draws.
I hear Parklands have almost canned having a team in Div1 next year, looking more at the youth grades and PDL.
Nomads are working on there team make up for next year already with the 1st team POY for 2010 playing only about half a game this year will be like having a new signing next season.
If 1st team players from this year jump ship it will give some of the younger bench players plenty of game time.
Saw Kate while out today and although disappointed they are in Div 1 some 1st team players are looking at the challange of playing PDL.

How about this - make Div 1 a Federation League (i.e. Premier League Div 2 or Championship or whatever) 8 teams to mirror 8 team Premier League. MPL & MPL Div2 play 2 rounds. Top 4 teams in MPL go off to South Island League, bring top 4 Div 2 teams up and play further round with top 4 going into MPL for next season? 8 Div 2 teams Nomads, Waimak, Parklands, Mid Cant, Varsities, Richmond, Blenheim Valley, Selwyn or Pap Redwood.

Mainland to pay half travelling costs of all teams in Div 2 and full travelling costs of all teams in MPL (to encourage teams to gain MPL status). Could also work with 2 groups of 6?
