Can of worms time: Promotion/Relegation.

With Div 1, Nelson, and I'll include West Coast as a random outsider about to kick off, I think cards need to be on the table as to what happens in promotion relegation.

Someone told me 2012 was the last in a 3-year plan of how promotion/relegation works, so have any plans been made for 2013? And shouldn't we know as soon as we can? What if they went back to playing the 8th side in a playoff or went to a 10 team league.

Is it fair that Nelson's Div 1 has 5 teams, with 2 from the same club, plus a College team. Or does that even out the fact only one of four Chch Div 1 teams are eligible for promotion. And what if West Coast (which sounds like quite a big club geographically!) want to throw their hat in the ring?

So many questions. But you guys will have the answers. :-)

For me its something which senior clubs should have to answer when registering their div 1 club (be it in the chch, upper north island or west coast comps) a simple yes or no "we wish to compete for a MPL spot the following year". If nobody from those comps wants promotion then sweet as, no relegation. once they know clubs x, y and z wish to push for it from comps 1 & 2 mainland can lay out the format for any play off/s.

IMO this should be out by....now. But that'll never happen.
