No upsets locally with Suburbs playing Richmond on Sunday, next round on the Monday of Queen's Birthday 4 June. Also no ChCh schools entered this year which is somewhat interesting.

Down south the upset was Invercargill's Old Boys rolling premier side Green Island, with Mike McGarry's Mosgiel rolled by University which is a bit of a suprise. The big two from Dunedin, Caversham and Technical were seeded in the the next round.

They got told a few years back by mainland its a senior teams only comp, their entries stopped the year after CBHS and shirley were dropped from the mens comps.
