Only bit I think Gings wasn't right about was his assessment that CTech will only get bigger. The merger of 2 substantial clubs has already passed critical mass to be "successful", i.e. they will find it hard to maintain a state of happiness for everybody. Why would an ambitious junior (or senior for that matter) player hang around in a lower grade team, surely they would only get better playing for a supposedly inferior "A" team against higher rated teams? And at the end of the day only one or two of all the juniors each year going into the seniors will get a run with the premiers. Basically they are already overstocked, even before they went chasing Danny Halligans PDL lot. Which is another reason they placed the whole shebang in jeopardy. The Cashmere junior parents were sold the merger on the basis it would give young Johnny access to senior MPL football if he was good enough, yea right. Laughing with ya. The Tech people didn't get sold anything, they were more than happy to take a step that suited the clubs dynastic ambitions. As for Woolston? The doors wide open, let's walk right in. Be interesting to see how it all unfolds in a year or two. It's great sitting on the sidelines tuning the newly rebuilt engine with the new turbo just fitted, can't wait to turn the key and get started in the race again next year.
