For me cashmere and united would've been the smarter merger - but thats another issue.
Was talked about a few years back but clearly came to nothing.
And its a shame, Wool Tech was in ok shape, Cashmere had strong juniors and united the senior section and MPL spot. win win. Ah well.
Can see a few of our smaller clubs being absorbed/merging in the upcoming years.
Yes it will be a worry if we lose too many other clubs due to mergers, may get to the situation were there is not enough difference club for eight team leagues. Do not really what to have two or more teams from the same club in the same league.
Too late now but may of be better for clubs that have disappeared, many were strong in juniors numbers but weak in seniors if the juniors were allowed to stay but then only acting as 'feeders' clubs at senior level.
