Are we talking about a full on league or a 4 team play offs a previous?
I'm meaning a comp with eight or ten teams over 2 rounds.
8 team league, 2 rounds home and away, the current arrangement ( end of season playoffs) is a joke. It has no profile and does nothing for the game. It's for the sake of the game we need a South Island league. 4 from ChCh, 3 from Dunners and Nelson ( who could hardly say no after chasing so hard for an ASB Premiership spot).
The board at Mainland need to make this a priority!
Nelson Suburbs would be better off going into the Central Premier League than going into a Southern championship. It would be a lot cheaper going to Wellington than to Dunedin and the quality would be higher. Would a Nelson team in CPL and then CHCH and Dunedin combining be a bad thing? Probably not.
This also comes on the back of Nelson Suburbs former coaches saying in the match programme that they'd rather play in Wellington and with Suburbs pulling out of the Chatham Cup due to high expenses (which really would only be a trip to Dunedin at most)
