Unsure how strong the link is with Universities.
Mainland Premier League (Part 2)
I thought CFA was getting into bed with FC2011
UC was the vehicle for CFA to enter their (junior) teams into Mainland competitions.
No more Pressies, they become Div 7 onwards - What's the difference other than the name?
QL - Good idea
Pressies: I guess that they are already sorted in their own leagues, and now they will eventually be mixed up with other teams and clubs. Plus any new team will have to start at Div 8/9 and work their way up which is a loooong haul.
QL: Doesn't this make it a bit of a mockery for all the other teams who have earned their place over the years making their way into Div 1, as now any team can now enter so it might make it a bit more cut-throat and whole teams might just move to a club to get into the MPL. I dunno.
QL is good concept
No teams from clubs in MPL
Youth combined 16/17 boys and combined 18/19

Wohoo any team being allowed in to QL. Well we train with a few MPL and 1st X1 youth players looks like we can get out of masters div [what ever we are this season] and play with refs and linos that will save our old tired 50/60+ year old legs with our half pitch pressing game. Our half only.

Scottie you'll be approaching S. Ager to play for Nomads next, LOL.
Seriously though, "any new team". Really? MPL criteria?

Hey don't tar me with the same brush as Steve A I've got skill, well in my own mind anyway.
Nomads first team need at least one new centre back for this season so I might put my hand up and let the coach know I'm available.
Great idea about the qualifying league. Hopefully it will help clubs retain players has they push to play in the highest league possible.
Will be interesting to what clubs enter, one would assume clubs back from 2015 will be:
ChCh United, Hornby, Nomads, Parklands, Selwyn and Waimak
So who does that leave that is likely to enter?
Burwood, Hurunui Rangers, Mid Canterbury and Papanui Redwood.
This is based on clubs that have entered the Chatham Cup and English Cup in recent seasons with hopfully Mid Canterbury coming back in to make it ten teams to avoid a Bye.
Will be interesting to see the final make up.

Burwood will deffo be in there. Mid Canty defaulted out of the QL(Div 1) a few years back, and they get welcomed back? What if this continues to happen?

I will put a lazy fiver on the Hurunui and Papanui Redwood being there as well with Mid Canty maybe at longer odds.
.
They (Mid Canty) will never win a place in the MPL if they continued to pull out in that case, but seriously maybe a "two strike and you are out policy" needs to be introduced then.
Good move with the Qualifying League.
Makes it more like a Premiership and Championship division.
But life is not always fair. As already stated I think this system was by far the best and fairest.
Only clubs not already in the MPL can enter so unsure how this can be considered unfair. Hopefully this will lead clubs in the Qualflying League lifting their standards on and off the as they try to win the league.
I assume there is going to be no lowering of the other standards for getting into the MPL, pitches, showers, coaching requirements etc, so overall the standards of clubs will lift throughout the Federation .

Some of the clubs you mention rarely/ever front at mainland meetings, so may not be aware of the hefty fines proposed for defaults in this league up. Should make some clubs think twice about entering a team. In saying that, don't think default fine applies if sufficient notice is given. Don't think there is any repercussion, financial or otherwise, if a team pulls out all together mid season.
