Burns not there today moving to Australia in a week to take up a contract to play.

Must say same as every other game this season finally an opposition that could put it in the onion bag.

Selwyn 1 up at half time from then on some days you just have those games. How Nomads play on Monday will be interesting can they put two passes together without giving the ball away.

Interesting, so after 1 round. Who is favourite to get promoted from div 1?

Three rounds this season in Division 1 so still a long way to go with nine point between the top five so still all on.

After seeing everyone now I'd say it will be one of the current top 3 but out of the top 5 especially, anyone can beat the other if the you don't turn up on top of your game. Think it will be a good race to the finish.

That makes interesting reading AW, both leagues being lead by recently merged clubs based in the south or east of the city who suffered the most in terms of loss of facilities and supposed player exodus due to earthquakes. Bays, who probably lost the most players, the odd one out as they struggle to stay with the pack in the men's PL but even they sit above the rest of town which is all much of a muchness. I know Halswell are being impacted by the setup at Selwyn but what's going on with Western, Nomads, FC, ChCh Utd? Is Uni having an impact on all of those clubs?

Cash    Coaching and Culture.

Money plus players and coaches not wanting to stick with a club that gets relegated and maybe build a strogner team, culture.

Nomads are back to when Keith Braithwaite started at the club in the early 2000s. Nomads going backwards and losing players, another one of Keiths 2007 MPL winning team about to give it away.

That's pretty weird - Saxton fields are usually pretty good.

Edit - Heavy rain.

heavy rain this morning I believe left the pitch water logged. Coaches from both sides wanted to go ahead, however referee made call just before kick-off.

So 3xDiv1 (or below) and 3xMPL teams plus 1xNelson team into next round. If the MPL teams keep drawing each other will be interesting

Very impressive stat AW, congrats to them, what was the previous record? My guess would be Bays, no idea how many games.

Yes was Bays, when the MPL started in 2002 took them 82 games.

Nomads 7 - 0 over Hornby. Two divisions within the one in this grade as has been the case since we had the 8 team MPL and club amalgamations.

Something for Mainland to have a look at and tie in with a SI league if they are committed to growing the game.

Hornby team would be the worst supported team as in people watching  I've seen in years. Such a nice day to not like last Monday.

Bit of a thump back to earth for the Selwyn WMPL team. I watched the 1st half before heading to the Men's Div1 game, and while CashTech were the better side, it really didn't seem like a 10-1 game or even close to it. Not sure what happened in 2nd half, whether it be fitness or chances taken....Hollie Carlisle-Reeves may be disappointed to have her goal called a pen, it was a screamer freekick from 20 yards that blasted past everyone.

Could be a thump back to earth for the Burwood A mens team neat Saturday as well.

Selwyn will not only want to win in the Chatham Cup game, they may want to put as many past Burwood as Burwood scored against the Div5 Selwyn team in the first league game of the season.

Tech to get Waimak in the next round and Bays the winner between Nomads and FC20, Selwyn to go to Nelson.
