Deffo Ash for both. Chants from the sidelines for an "Ash-trick" went unanswered.

Cheers

Cheers have to keep the stats correct.

2nd was a beauty, bullet header from a whipped in corner.

Wonder how the judiciary will sort that one out with both protagonists dead? Suspect a fine and banstick somewhere.

So beautiful in fact, there are 8 photos of the ball going in here: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=607951102570646&set=a.607950812570675.1073741858.379925092039916&type=1&theater

No wonder he scored, woeful defending by FC looking at the photo.

Yer just about all of them. Is this a gossip finding session for the Chatham Cup? If so then I have no problem sharing the news.

Current: Andy Barton, Julyn Collett, Stu Kelly, Nathan Knox, Andy Pitman, Tom Schwarz, Dan Terris, Nick Wortleboer, Ricky Hulbert, Ken Yamamoto, Danny Knight.

There's 11!

Vim you have missed a couple. Collett injuried at the moment, Hulbert not played for Tech in 2013 after heading back to the UK, Yamamoto not played this season currently in Auckland I think studing at University. Knox only one outing.

Someone did mention it earlier, but here it is in print. Off duty copper was the one involved in the lino incident.

They have some English keeper (not Knight) who looks decent (6 clean sheets out of 7) also Tom Schwarz's twin over from the uk. Top scorers are Boys and Ede. Am going to their English cup game tonight.

So who is responsible for the conduct of the crowd/spectators at ASB?  Is it Mainland? Can they deduct three points from themselves!

I think clubs sign a code of conduct that say they will ensure their spectators are behaving themselves. Let's hope it doesn't come down to an alcohol ban!

According to the NZ football code of conduct. Clubs are responisble for their fans.

I'd like to see all facts before making assumptions like that. Yes I agree that putting your hands on a ref is not ok, however we need to know if there was something before that to spark it off.

I remember very well a lino at English Park in a Canty Utd match push a player.  Made the news too. Not saying that happened (altho it has been mentioned before) however we need to wait for the facts to come out. And what better place than Yellow Fever!

What you mean a Ref/Ass Ref must know the laws better than a spectator.
Never happens in Mainland Football area does it. as mentioned by someone else just ask Nelson how they got a point at the weekend.
Was that because only the ref knows the rules?
More like it's just the Sun shining out of my a since I was Born crap.

In this case it was.

Nelson/Nomads game... the penalty was given becasue the nomads player won the ball in an unfair manner. Yes he did win the ball, however he used more than the force needed to do so fairly. He tackeld in a careless manner without regards to his apponent's safety. Foul any day of the week for me.

So u want someone to lose their job over a minor incident that was initiated by the 'victim'. Were u even at the game or are u just someone from mainland trying to protect the lino?
Quite impressive, uve only had 3 posts and they're all full of rubbish.

Who is responsible for the conduct of the officials?

Yelling Dumb arse to a supporter is hardly good conduct.

When did the officials become such "Gods"

Maybe Mainland or NZF should ensure the quality of the Officials to help.... There has been a number of incidents this season, a lot as a result of some strange decisions.....

Good job the PDL sides of Christchurch Utd and Nomads ended up laughing at how poor their official was on Saturday, otherwise it could of ended in disaster!

Wonder how many of the posts have ever tried to referee a match themselves - at any level? As a player I would likely f... up many more times in a match than most referees, yet they are always fair game and on the receiving end of the criticism. Yes they do get it wrong and  have good days and bad days, just like players do.

What are clubs doing to bring more of their (ex)players (who are clearly all experts in their own right!) into the middle. All too easy to demand better quality referees - checked at the corner dairy when I picked up my K2 & party pill supplies; you can't buy them there!

Div 1 juniors criteria requires a Club Based Referee and AR at home games; Don't see too many of these senior "afternoon experts" putting back into the game in the morning by helping out and setting the standard.

Time for clubs to take some responsibility themselves in raising the standard of referees, or at least stop moaning about it.

Seems Mainland don't enforce the Div 1 junior criteria though.
Some clubs seem to have refs and others don't.
I attended a refs course in Kaiapoi cos it was the only one I could fit in.
The room was packed with junior parents, youth players, and senior players.  A room full of cage fighters - yes a little daunting.
Seems they are educating everyone out there!!
Perhaps that's why they complain so much about the refs - the spectators are too well educated!

Perhaps so. At least by the sound of things they are pro-active and getting off their backsides, more than what the old established clubs are doing. Mainland only enforce criteria or rules when someone presses them to.

I've only seen a couple of MPL games this year and admittedly, the standard of officiating was mediocre at best. Without trying to sound too harsh, i'd suggest working on the standard of fitness of the AR's would be a great place to start if we want to improve their performance. Being able to keep up with play would be a massive help. Do they actually need to pass some kind of fitness testing before being appointed to MPL fixtures?

That is by in large the burwood tsunami team from last year.

Mainland killed U/21s so put burwood and the top uni team in div 4 and the other 2 in div 6.

As I've reffed a few games, or stepped in when appointed ref has turned up, does that mean I'm allowed to post and comment ;)

It is a hard job at times, but then there are also some alarming decisions recently that make you wonder what planet they are on!

As stated, some Div 1 juniors do provide refs, as we do for home games, but it's when you go to an away game and they are not provided it gets annoying for the parents that have to step in and do the job!

Half the problem in the lower grades is the fact there are no linesman and only a referee.  When I referee my son's team games I always get a parent from both teams to run the line calling off sides.  It takes the whole offside argument out of the game.

In senior games with one ref, they only ever want you to do ins and outs, despite everyone knowing the rules.  I think this would be a start if linos were able to call offsides.

And for them not to call others dumbarses.  Still burns.

Anyways, forget about this hassling the refs side-thread.  The facts will come out and then we can argue. There must be more gossip out there?
