I think you will find in that game Waimak were on notice from Mainland.. After watching the Waimak v Uni match the behavior from their players, supporters and their coach towards the Uni players and the officials was appalling, and apparently this is not the first time either. It is common knowledge that Uni have video evidence of the incidents and from what I hear it is quite incriminating against Waimak, also considering they have made it clear that it was another player involved when it wasn't they may find themselves in deeper trouble for lying about the player/s involved.. Will be interesting to see what happens from here with the evidence that wasn't available previously now available.

According to Mainlands website, the accused player was not involved and his ban has been rescinded.  Mainland have obviously reviewed the video.  I would have thought Waimak would be thanking Uni for backing up their statements.  Surely Mainland wouldn't have banned another player if that wasn't the case.  I hear all 3 refs and Stapely accused the wrong player - crikey 4 refs getting it wrong - conspiracy?

As far as I am aware mainland definitely did not have access to the video until after the decision, hence now a review

Game in Div 3 between Selwyn and Chch United was abandoned because the Ref gave 3 Red Cards to Chch United for dissent. Score was 3-2 Selwyn at the time.  See how that one plays out with Mainland

Could be but looks like they ae having plenty of injuries all that the same time which will test the depth of the squad. Another key game coming up this Saturday when they take on Western, another lost and the pressure would be on to retain the title.

A big game at then other of the table on Saturday with the FC and Nomads game a lost for FC would almost see Nomads safe relegated, with other games Coastal vs. Technical and on Sunday Suburbs playing Halswell.

I know one of the players was the fella with the long dreads.  Another was a young fella (not sure of country of origin)  Most of it came after Selwyn scored a goal from a free Kick - Keeper was lining up his wall, Selwyn took the shot.  Chch was waiting for them to be marched 10, but Selwyn never asked for it.  From there on in the Ref just got a load of abuse by 2 guys and another who accused the Ref of being a cheat.

One of several games to be abandon in the cup either at half time or early in the second with the Cavy - Dunedin Tech game called off without a ball kick.

Not that funny but they looked to have a hectic few weeks coming up as already have a catch-up game with Cash Tech in a couple of weeks so if the Chatham Cup game is replayed which seems likely they will have other catch up game then another if the beat Nelson College, plus a midweek game for the English Cup as well.

WOW!!! It seems that there is a witch hunt to make Waimak into a bunch of monsters!!! I went to watch them play against Hornby last week and there was no hint of trouble whatsoever, I remember one booking for a challenge the whole game.

Also speaking to a few guys around the ground I found out that the instigator of the trouble against Uni was AR1 who charged towards the coach in the dressing room door of the Waimak players.

A question.... Why is there no mention in the press about the AR1 who by most accounts was totally out of order?

The officials have a code of conduct to uphold as well, are they being investigated or is it just the Waimak club being dragged through the press with no right to reply???

I was at this game and the AR1 was aggressive and doing nothing to uphold the conduct of the game even during it.

The issue at this match would never have escalated to the point it did if the AR1 had upheld his own personal conduct. Instead he was aggressive and confrontational towards the Coach, players and spectators, but has conveniently dropped out of the statement of facts since.

The player who was initially banned was incorrectly identified by the OFFICIALS, not by Waimak. Waimak have since identified the player correctly having seen the video footage, and accepted his penalties.

Sure, the officials are considered to be the final authority on the day, but it appears that when they step out of line, all details are swept away and the finger pointed firmly elsewhere instead. It puts the supposed 'code of conduct' into disrepute when it's not fairly upheld from all sides.

Waimak could have been up 3-0, but had a goal disallowed as it was deemed offside. Nelson didn't have many scoring opportunities, I'm sure they'll be happy to replay the match.

Hot off the NZ Footy website:

New Zealand Football: Four abandoned ASB Chatham Cup games to be replayed in full

June 16, 2013

AUCKLAND – The four  third round matches in the ASB Chatham Cup that were abandoned due to weather conditions will be replayed in full, New Zealand Football has confirmed.

Heavy rain around the country forced play to be cut short in two matches in Auckland, one in Nelson as well as preventing any play in Dunedin due to waterlogged grounds making the pitches unplayable and raising match officials’ concern for player safety.

Caversham’s much anticipated derby against local rival Dunedin Technical was the first casualty followed by Nelson College’s match against Waimak United with the victors leading 2-0.

Glenfield Rovers, who had earlier lost home advantage when their game was moved to a neutral ground, were trailing Birkenhead United 3-0 early in the second half when their match was abandoned and even Ellerslie’s artificial turf was unplayable by halftime where they were locked 1-1 with Waitakere City.

New Zealand Football’s Competitions Manager Chris Kemp says the decision to replay each game in full was made in the interest of fairness and consistency.

“The regulations leave it up to the discretion of the governing body and we took a common sense approach,” said Kemp.

“Given there was still a good deal of time to play in every match, one match had already been transferred to another ground and one was called off completely, replaying each match in full was the appropriate decision.”

Kemp also indicated New Zealand Football was working with Mainland Football and Waimak United to remove the cost of travel for the Canterbury’s club return to Nelson.

The fourth round draw will still go ahead as schedule tomorrow at 2pm.

A full review of the third round will follow shortly.

And so it begins - a bunch of Waimak supporters and Uni supporters fighting each other on the forum, while Chch utd rub their hands together and quietly run away with the title. Uni are seemingly out of reach of the title even if they win the remaining games, Waimak will be game weary from Chatham Cup/English Cup and a substandard Chch Utd will be getting into MPL.

Disappointing. Waimak has a far better club structure and Uni have a far better team.

Nah not really the constant waimak bashing does not worry us. Yea we will have a lot of games close together but at the end of the day if we are good enough we will do the job. It's funny how our supporters are getting attacked and stuff Atleast we have support and maybe some of you should take a look in your own backyard before throwing stones. We are looking forward to the challenges and all the obstacles that get put in front of us just serve to make us stronger.

Cannot see how you can say "while Chch utd rub their hands together and quietly run away with the title.". That is hardly the case as if Waimak or Cashmere Tech win their catch up game they will have the same points at ChCh United.

Both Waimak and Univ have a better goal difference than United which could be a deciding factor.

Not over to the last round played and with appeal(s) yet to be completed, I do not think any of the leading sides from Div 1 can say they will be lining up in the 2014 PFL just yet.

And nz football says they have taken a common sense approach in relation to the replays. Lets hope that the common sense relates to the uni boys appeal. As was mentioned an average squad currently leading the div after dropping points in half the games is a joke, meanwhile uni should b at least 7 points clear! Wonder if mainland have learned anything of late in reviewing the incident involving waimak, if it is true what waimak have stated then there should be no worries, however if they have tried to deceive unlike uni then I wonder what the punishments would be.

Yes I think we all know that Uni are the better team, however they played an illegal player so now have to work hard and hope for other results  to get through. What is the basis and progress on the appeal to get all their points back?

Not whinging just disappointed especially since the conditions had not changed from start of game. Must admit we were surprised the ground didn't have better drainage for a ground that hosted international rugby.

Unsure on status but if the player did not play in all of the first 5 rounds then cannot see how the result can be reversed to a 3 - nil loss.

Personally think it has got way more interesting reading both sides of the story.  Mainland, the Press, and Stuff have only given one side.  If it was any of our clubs we would want the truth out there.  Surprised they have taken so long to get it out there.  Maybe they thought justice would prevail.  Ha ha!
