Interesting that Ron wants to wack FC a big fine for defaulting a cup game but takes a different view when a club defaults almost three rounds of a competition. What punishment will Mainland impose❓
Mainland Womens Premier League
have Parklands lost half their team?
No 3/4 of it
Yes he has certainly done a great job for female football in canterbury.
With 7 players moving out of town, most teams will take some time to adjust
A few additional facts are in order I think.
Dyer has been a successful junior rep coach.
Dyer recruited rep and FTC players to parklands PDL
Dyer pushed for WPL status after the PDL team could only finish 3rd
Dyer was unable to form a player development pipeline at parklands
Dyer/players leave.
Is women's football at parklands in better shape that when he started? They will head the same way as western
Called it. 5 senior womens teams left in Chch, of which only 2 are really competitive (sorry Waimak, Uni, FC). I've called for it before and I will again: if the South Island and Wellington want to retain players instead of having them leave for Auckland, they need to find a way to make a South Island/Wellington womens league work, 6-8 teams.

I can't see his differing view, in fact I can't see his view at all on the Parklands withdrawal.
I am surprised at the compassion and feeling sorry for Parklands that has come through on this forum, in the media, and on Mainland's website. Losing 10-0 each week is bad enough but pulling out after a few rounds and now two teams having a bye is a pain in the arse!
Women, huh?
in the Regs should Parklands be hit financially by this?
in the Regs should Parklands be hit financially by this?
Yes; but they are being treated like a kids team (which in a way they are) needing to be re-graded; rather than the a team in the pinnacle womens league in Mainland federation. See my previous post re how they got into WPL in the first place.

I thought they got in because Shane and Parklands pushed for them to be included and then with the backing of some other clubs and Mainland they were accepted . Surely at the end of the day it was Mainlands call and the buck stops with them ?

Quite agree re Mainland's role (besides Shane's desire to coach WPL). Was there due diligence/any criteria on a sustainable player pipeline though? Is there now, is it enforced? Should there be? I think so, otherwise you get the situation where Western sustained a WPL team for a while with no junior girls teams underneath. Are girls player numbers improving? Surely Halswell/Selwyn/Chch Utd should be planning a joint(?) WPL team entry in the near future.

Well put . If I remember correctly the only requirement was that they field a WPDL team - by enforcing this all it seemed to create was players from other clubs being approached to play for Parklands ( where is the player development in that ?) a side effect of that was Papanui Redwood could no longer field any girls teams. seems like player shuffling is accepted and development and growth are ignored too often.

Not the way I read clause 15.12 of the regs reads, under:
DEFAULTS
15.12 Notification of a teams intended Default must be made in writing to the Competitions Manager no later than 48 Hours priors to a state of the match. A team shall not be fined if they adhere to this clause.
four figure fines in wgtn

I just support a horses for courses pragmatic approach. A team defaulting 1 game is not the same as a team getting smashed week in week out wouldn't you agree?

Nothing in the rules about pulling out.
in fact the rhythm method is actively encouraged in some cultures

Can't default in a league you don't participate in. Do they drop into WPDL and start on 0 points?
