What are the other clubs doing for female football? Bays, Western, FC 2011, Selwyn, Nomads, Nelson Suburbs, Halswell have all had WPL teams in the past. Would be great to see more clubs being aspirational to compete with the rest. Yes it would be hard to compete with Coastal and Cash Tech, but the rest of the teams would be good games to guage progress against.
Halswell do have a team in the WPL, finished third last season, rebuilding this season, with a new coach, after around of ten of last season's squad have moved to other Mainland WPL teams, Looking at squads for the opening round over the weekend looks like five to Coastal and five to Waimak (I may have missed some).
Seem to be a big issue with good numbers playing at secondary school level, both female and male, but for whatever reason many of these players seem to be lost to the sport once they leave school.
