na can't see that happening
And one of the loooooooongest sagas in the history of Northern League football continues ...
This makes "The Young And The Restless" appear positively edge-of-the-seat stuff!
At least it has now ended up in the lap of the person who should have taken responsibility and made the binding decision in the first place, rather than involve Uncle Tom Cobley and all in the ensuing 213 days until today.
Can't wait for Friday's gripping conclusion to this soap opera! The whole thing's been embarrassing for football, highlighting so many shortcomings in the game's administrative systems and functions. And all ultimately because there was a lack of attention to detail when filling out a transfer form.
Hi Jerry, the really remarkable thing from the latest chapter is that it took the AFF disciplinary committee seven weeks to decide that it didn't have jurisdiction to make a decision.
But there you go.
This would be the first case the disciplinary committee has had to consider, I am guessing, given it is a committee which only came into being after NZF adopted its new statutes in September 2014.
The saga goes on, and on, and on Bruce. I have to agree with JR in that it seems to be a bit of a soap opera up your way.
Tell you what - Steve Stevens and I will take over your judicial and rules committee. We might get a few backs up, but the decisions will be consistent, made within a few hours and at least people will know where they stand.
Bring it on!!

Ah, just like the good days.
Auckland Football re-penalise Three Kings United for the ineligibility of Thomas Konusi so Melville stay up Three Kings go down Three Kings have 14 days to appeal.
Auckland Football wishes to advise that the NRFL Competitions Manager has reached a decision on the eligibility of a Three Kings United player in the Lotto NRFL Premier League.
The NRFL Competitions Manager has concluded that Thomas Konusi was not properly registered for Three Kings United after having received a denied transfer from Auckland City FC on 12 May, 2014.
It therefore follows that Mr Konusi was ineligible to play in any NRFL matches for Three Kings United in the 2015 season prior to 15 May, 2015, when the transfer was approved.
The usual practice of the NRFL Competitions Manager in relation to player eligibility is to determine the ineligibility only for the match for which the matter was raised, and not in relation to any previous matches the player may have played in that season. This was the approach taken in response to the query following the Three Kings United vs Hamilton Wanderers match on 9 May, 2015.
In this case, however, the New Zealand Football Disciplinary Committee has specifically noted that the NRFL Competitions Manager could and ought to consider all previous matches where Mr Konusi took the field for Three Kings United in the 2015 season.
The regulations do not allow for flexibility regarding player ineligibility sanctions. Having found the player ineligible, the NRFL Competitions Manager has therefore imposed the penalty set out in NRFL Competition Regulations 12, being a forfeit win of 3-0 to the eight opposing teams in all NRFL Premier League matches between 28 March 2015 and 2 May 2015, accompanied by the fine as set out in the NRFL Schedule of Fees.
The fine issued to Three Kings United is $100 per match for this breach of regulation (a total of $800). All results in the eight matches concerned will be altered to a 3-0 win to the opposing team.
Any decision of the Competitions Manager may be appealed to the Federation Board by any of the parties involved. Such appeal must be received at the federation office in writing within 14 days of the date of the letter containing the decision.
laters T.K.U
Why don't they relegate three teams and bring three up Waitakere and Melville were mud all season and if TKU cheated then by by to all three Simple ????????????????????????????????/

seems a little harsh on Melville doesn't it - they were not great but they got enough points to finish 7 points clear of relegation and only 2 points behind Bay Olympic once all the Three Kings results were altered. They were only directly given 3 points from an early season result against TKU.
Anyway i hear that Three Kings will appeal and that they may have a long list of players who are still registered at Three Kings who have been playing elsewhere - we have not heard the end of this.
I wonder if there will be a final, final decision before the season starts next year

Doubt it it will probably drag on so long they'll have to play next season with extra teams.
I assume everyone's picked up on this, but with two teams from this season passed's Premier Division heading to the National League...there's an anti-climactically-simple solution that can save NRFL any hassle at all.
If anything, two might get promoted now?
Which would be good for the two main regions missing from the National League, leaving every region in the country with a semi-decent level of football (apart from Taranaki...which at least has SOMETHING with 'Central League Division I North' a.k.a. Central Federation League, oh and Northland - but that standard's probably pretty similar)
But then there's the West Coast of the South Island...
i guess the decision Suburbs and Wanderers now have to make is whether to have a break from competition for a year, or a season that's going to be at least 10 months long?
Assuming the 'transitional' 2016/17 ASB Premiership is going to start in September/October and finish in January...before starting again in March/April 2017? Or is it just 2018, which means National League football will have a year-long break...so, how will that work??
Hamilton Wanderers have made it clear that they will run a northern league team, and I can't imagine a club the size of Eastern Suburbs will walk away from an elite winter team.
There will be an 18-game (+ finals) season from Oct-March 2016-17, and then from Oct-March 2017-18; with new licences and a proposed move to July-March in 2018-19 (Sep-May would make more sense, to me, but whatevz).
As the league moves towards its intended position of eventually having promotion-relegation we will have a curious situation...
The likes of Eastern Suburbs and Wanderers Sports Club may be relegated from national league - and at the same time get promoted from northern premier league... or if playoffs, end up playing themselves. :-)
This makes no sense to me. You're either a NL club or not. How can you sustain both? Never happened in the "good old days", and just seems bizarre

I think long term when the national league goes to 30 games having a team in both will be too hard, but until that point I can see those clubs who have made national league retain a presence in their top regional leagues if allowed.
what happens if a franchise get's relegated is an interesting one.

Certainly did happen in the old days with Christchurch United anyway. They had their 'second' team playing in the old Southern League with their first team playing in the National League. Cost them plenty of $$$ with the club presently a shadow of their glory days in the 1970's 80's and 90's.
It has previously happened - in the northern league days of the first summer league 1996-98.
Funnily enough, rather than being an advantage, it served to be a terrible drain on clubs such as mine (Melville United).
Kind of proves the point doesn't it Bruce? I would have thought that the aim was to make this latest version of the NL a success, and I don't see how that can happen if you have clubs/teams stretching their resources across 2 separate first teams and different competitions. Yes it's sort of done at Kiwitea St, but there seems to be a very clear distinction between those 2 entities.
Maybe a solution could be for Suburbs and Wanderers NRFL teams to be based around their youth squads?

NRFL = no (or v little) travel so no great expense. At Kiwitea Central serves as a sort of ACFC reserve/trial squad i.e a slightly older age group than the ACFC youth squad. Far as I can make out.
Some tasty clashes in the first round of the 2016 NRFL Div 1 (based on the draft draw)
(All Friday 25th March)
Shore B (Metro) who have signed at least 4 Shore players host their feeder club at Phyills Street at 6pm
In a season with no road trips the biggest distance clash is Coast vs the newly formed Franklin Utd - that's at 3pm at Stanmore Bay
Three Kings MAY kick off their NRFL Div 1 campaign away to Manurewa (welcome to div 1 TKU) at 3pm
Promoted Papakura City host relegated Waitakere City at 1:30pm
Ellerslie get Div 2 runners up last year Oratia away in their first game - 2:45pm
and finally Mangere host MAP with new coach Scott McKay at 3pm
some 2016 transfers to whet your NRFL appetite.
Tom Boss - Birkenhead
Jack Salter - Birkenhead
Cody Patterson - Papatoetoe
Eammon O'Brien - Papatoetoe
Tavis Gravratt - Papatoetoe
Jaryd Colligan - overseas
Ben Hunt - overseas
Jaryd Gibbs - MAP
Scott Booker - Papatoetoe
Jayrd Grey - Metro
Ashley Ngala (sp) - Metro
Harry Lissington - Metro
Papatoetoe giving it a good crack in 2016 with Mark Holt still in charge I presume - Metro the other one to watch out for
Any updates on TKU appeal?
Hey lads - after my season off. I am looking at getting back into footy, I'm living on the shore just round the corner from Forrest Hill, should I give them a buzz? Anything in particular I need to figure out with Auckland football compared to Wellington?
PS - I'm a bit shark, but can potentially flail around in goal

less wind, more travelling
Heard that the fate of 3 Kings has been decided and a 13 team premier is what is happening. All unconfirmed at the moment until the release.

I'd get down there mate, their incumbent #1 has just moved to Oz.
Good luck though, they're a bunch of massive wankers.
I heard that a lot of Arsenal Supporters are tossers but that could just be a generalisation!

I have heard this also (not on the Northern League forum, but from a actual legit source) but and this is in no way a dig at the Three Kings players and coaches but this is a rubbish move.
Yes it's a harsh penalty for an admin error but there was an error and it makes a mockery of AFF (more than normal) to back down at the last moment.
If this goes ahead, watch heads roll at AFF starting with Don Manase (actually heads may roll regardless).
Manase should never have been made CEO. Terrible choice.
Received an email last night from AFF proposing the 13 team league and asking for feedback from clubs. Fruitless exercise?
