Probably should have taken that bet.......
Northern Leagues
That is the worst crest ever.
Boring name
Probably should have taken that bet.......
Your loss. I guess there is some logic in not being tied too closely to a specific suburb that carries little meaning outside of Auckland (or even outside the North Shore).

Especially because it'll get confused with North Shore FC
It's obvious that they are just placing themelves via their branding to be a national league club (men's and women's) and have chosen a name just like Auckland United that they think works in that league.
Should they be able to - that's a different question.
Eastern Suburbs, Wests.... yet we rail on Northern.......
(I think its a crap name too)
Waitakere City + Norwest merger on the way
It'll still be Waitakere. What will Norwest bring to this? Not a lot.
I would imagine as a pretty sizeable club that Norwest supplies numbers, particularly across Juniors, Youth and Women's that Waitakere don't have.
New club I believe is West Coast Rangers - which is one of the better merge names.
It’s a great idea.
Hope they go well there are a lot of clubs out west and seems logical for a few to get together .
massive growth potential in that area as well with lots of new suburbs popping up. Could be a super club in 5-10 years based on size alone.
I know that Northern Rovers will be basically Forrest Hill’s first team with a couple of guys from Glenfield, but they’ve lost both Andrew Blake and Yousif Al-Khalisy to North Shore and not really replaced them with equal players. Andrew Abba is there I believe but idk how effective he’ll be seeing he missed the whole of last season so won’t have played since 2019. Also heard rumours that Matt Conroy and former U17 NZ training squad member Stephanos Georgiou were maybe on
board but those haven’t seemed to amount to anything.
NSU look in a good spot, picked up a few youngsters to fill in the youth spots - Matt Wood, Carlson-du Toit (who I rate immensely), Joseph Lee from the Nix are a few.
Auckland United keep getting stronger, they've picked up Michael den Heijer.
Haven't heard a thing from WCR apart from signing Riera and Berlanga as assistant coaches
Noticed a stunning signing by Manukau registered on Comet just last week - not sure of its validity since he's a contracted professional overseas
Oh yep - I see who you mean. Will leave the club to announce it.
I wonder with that particular player how much he will stand out in what looks to be a strong premier league - would he be in the top couple of players in the league?
The new system, aligned with winter, initially meant Auckland City would have been more. But that's no longer the case.
City's brand has become too valuable to lose.
This is the kind of deliberately obtuse use of the passive tense which makes people despise journalists. "Skepticism" by WHO? Suggestions by WHO? Struggle HOW?
I'm going to lock this thread and start a new one in the Handyprem category.
