International rules - although very slightly relaxed, exist in NRFL Championship - as do the again slightly relaxed U20's rules.

Waiheke didn't play in the Championship this season - they played in NRFL Northern Conference which doesn't have the international rules.

Same dates for that one I think - first leg at Manurewa - not sure of the time.

Waiheke lose the playoff - 2-0 to Cambridge (1-0 in both legs)
In the other playoff Manukau score a last min goal after a keeper error to win 2-0 and go into extra time with the score 4-4.

Hey I just wanted to ask about Uni-Mount Bohemian?
I came across them and was surprised to learn of such an elite club that has seemingly fallen off the face of NZ football. Their wikipedia says they're in the NRF League one but that was last season, but I was able to quickly learn they're now competing in NRF Div1 (6th tier of NZ football). Only issue is that there's 3 UMB teams in that league, so do they just not have a 1st team anymore? How come they had such a hard fall off?

Ages ago Uni-Mount (as it was) decided to turn away from top-level competition and concentrate on growing community football. A few years ago they absorbed the top team from Bohemian Celtic and had a go in the big leagues for a while, but that experiment seems to be done.

That's a bit underwhelming ngl. Not sure what I was expecting, but one of the most storied clubs in the nations history just saying "nah" to top-level football is a bit of a shame. Wouldn't the best thing for community football be giving locals the chance at top-level football?

What's up with Manurewa? Last year they got relegated from the Northern League and this year they're dead last in the NRFL Championship. If relegation was still on they'd be on track to be sent down to the NRFL Nth/Sth Conference in back to back relegations!

there is possibly 1 relegation spot still - so there is a chance.

For the Chatham Cup one of their Social teams is playing in it as they played the first team for the right to be the clubs chatham cup rep and won 6-0.

I was under the impression relegation was cancled this year since there'll be so much club movement at the end of the season. The Northern League is gonna be losing 5-6 clubs so 3-4 clubs would need to be promoted from the championship and then 1-2 clubs to maintain the new 10 club league system they're building.
From my knowlege 2027 NRF will be
- NRFL Championship 10 clubs - 1st tier
- NRFL Conference 10 clubs - 2nd tier
In short, Why have relegation if you're gonna be bringing up 1-2 clubs (+1 being promoted) anyway?

It's actually:
NRFL Premiership - 10 teams (Replacing Northern League, down from 12)
NRFL Championship - 10 teams (down from 12)
NRFL Conference - 10 teams (New, but mostly Northern Conference teams)
Normally NRFL North & South Conferences play off for promotion, but this year both are getting a promotion spot. Because the league is shrinking only the top 3-4 teams get promotion from the Championship.
If it is 5 Northern teams that get National League spots (AFC + 4), then 12th will get relegated.
If it is 6 Northern teams that get National League spots (Northern team wins playoffs), 12th will stay in the Championship.

Alright I actually did some basical googling and it seems the issue with Manurewa is that they basically have a whole new squad this season. More than half their starters left, and they've had a new coach every year since 2023. (3 coaches since 2021 - after Tashreeq Davids won promotion in 2022 Paul Marshall was brought in and it's been a new guy ever since). So yeah it was basically a new team rather than the same people as last year just in a lower league like I had assumed.

Yeah...
Just had a conversation with a guy at Manurewa and it seems Rhys Ruka was why they saw a sharp decline after 2023. Apparently Brett McMurdoch got into a scuffle and got banned, thus Rhys was brought in and the season derailed from there. Sadly they haven't really recovered since

that's entirely false - Rhys got them promoted into NL and then they pushed him out in the Northern League season.

I'm just going off what the rewa guy told me man. If you know what's been happening at Rewa please just say it because I don't know and have been trying to find out

It's nothing special - same old story of clubs chasing success with chequebooks - it creates wild instability in a club and when you already consider Manurewa were a club that yo-yo'd through divisions already it's just pouring alcohol on a fire.
There has been huge change at board level, multiple coaches moved on and a large player turnover - all things that are symptoms of the above.
sometimes getting relegated (or relegated twice) is a good chance to reset and build things up sustainably - although I can't see Rewa choosing that path.
