^^^ And this is the problem we have here. Someone who honestly believes that the brain-damaged ramblings of lizard-person theorists on the Internet are equivalent to what kids hear at schools. This is what they call the "post-truth" era - the idea that no information is more trustworthy than any other, and in fact that real information is LESS trustworthy because experts, media, etc are all in a conspiracy - also shown by D. Trump claiming that New York nurses are stealing face masks to make him look bad, etc.
In 17th century Massachusetts, it didn't matter if the local town busybody really thought you were a witch or was just trying to "wind people up", you get hanged nonetheless. Similarly, people's lives are on the line RIGHT NOW if we don't draw a hard line against disinformation.
