@ Good as Gold

Was that you I saw at Forrester Park the other week when the Mighty Green Island took down Northern?  Little Cam trying to fight the entire crowd was one of the many highlights!

@ZG was a good strike from you to be fair.

I'm sure Cam doesn't really care, his team are in the next round unlike Northern...

What has this got to do with Northern?
It’s like flogging a dead horse, challenge yourself a little, at least let us know who you are.

Mighty GI will go all the way this year - I can feel it

Cams passion can cross the line but i love that and I want to see fireworks from our little star when we knock over the Royals this weekend.

I'll be there if anyone wants to meet up for a few beers?

Think Cam's GI machine has got Uni in the cup this weekend, you would back them as Uni struggling on the grass & exams, although with the current weather conditions this week, maybe that game is moved to the turf.

Maybe not a popular opinion, but GI are just a tad overrated. Been inconsistent all season - all well and good to thrash Uni twice, destroy Queenstown etc. but losing at home to Roslyn, Mosgiel, it hardly screams being a top team...

Nevertheless, making top 3 for sure imo with Uni/Roslyn joining in third place.

Good to see Morgan Day has finally seen the light and left that shark hole. As a long time fan, its been gutting the way he's been disrespected the last few years out there. Short memories on the plains.

Where’s he gone? Such a top top lad. One of the nicest guys I’ve ever met and such a good player!

GI. Too much loyalty for his own good. Should of played for Tech or Cavvy when he had the chance. Their loss. Looking forward to his two footing Cam M when they meet next.

I hope those Christchurch teams are ready for the mighty Green Island!  That demolishing of the South City Royals should set the league on notice. Royals got the league title by direct throw ins for the half way line and from corners. The christchurch teams will be shocked at how bad the Royals are - worst brand of football being played at the moment.  Don't get me started on their supporters either their behaviour is shocking but its led by the angry and arrogant coaches and managers on the bench. Is Aaron Burgesss still a Football South board member because someone needs to remind him we can all see the way he pressures the officials. Like watching a pantomime when they play in front of a crowd. The way they carried on when we beat them means I'll be supporting every team playing against them but its Green Island all the way this year!

Green Island's first match should give an indication as to how they will fare in this league - a tough assignment first up, away to Cashmere Technical

4-1 University over Royals was any one at the game and can give me a report on the game. I hope we get to see footage or do Royals only post the footage when they win?

GI actually didn't play all that well against Royals, just had very poor spells in the game. Look what Mosgiel and Uni who actually played well did... ah well, every team gets a bad run of form. 3-2 is a long long way from a demolishing and I've heard you were only 6-5 over Queenstown as well which is pretty unstable. Don't get too big for your boots.

As for Royals style of play yes I admit there is a lot of use of corner and direct throw ins... but if GI had the ability to use set pieces like that, would you really begrudge them for doing it? And the style of play overall involves an attacking mindset, good possession, quick passing and ball movement, people like you just see us use set pieces better than you and throw your arms up and say we play terrible football.

Totally unfounded thing to say, go to the Royals facebook page and you'll see highlights from both the GI loss and the Mosgiel loss. If there was video caught from todays' game it'll be uploaded tonight.

Bad weather has forced the bus bringing Nelson Suburbs south for their clash with Coastal Spirit in the opening round of the Southern League, to return back to Nelson so game has been postponed.

Green Island were sharke today. If they had played in the Mainland League, they would never have qualified for the Southern League. 6-2 is a flattering scoreline, 9-1 is probably a fair reflection.

On the flipside a bit of a demonstration that Cashmere are just quite a large step ahead of the rest. Esp with Christchurch United losing today... had them in my contenders tbh.

Cashmere Technical were too good for Green Island and full credit to the Stallions who came out on top of Rams.
United should have had the three points wrapped up by half-time but could not score after dominating in the attacking third, with PT again outstanding in the Selwyn goal with his defenders putting in the hard yards. Selwyn were allowed to come back into game after the break with Dan Ede finishing well and then United retaking the lead with there second pen with Selwyn levelling immediately. With Selwyn awarded a clear pen in the third minute of added time to claim the all the points. United players and management would have headed away from Foster Park wondering how they let that one slip.

Watched the stream of the Selwyn vs Chch United game, it’s a shame the cameraman nodded off for half the goals. Great result for Selwyn

Reminder guys, all the Leagues (Northern, Central and Southern) under the National League are in the Handy Prem area instead of Regional football. So you can find the Southern League here https://yellowfever.co.nz/categories/asb-premiership-ocl/topics/southern-league-2021
I'm an optimistic pessimist.
I'm positive things will go wrong.

Speaking of the Football South league, when does it even start? Bit disappointing that the 5 teams only play a round robin rather than what would a logical home and away.
