Alot of Kiwi footballers would be excited about the prospect of returning home to NZ, as a foundation member of a new shiny ALM team in NZ's biggest city. Bankrolled by a billionaire, who's promising to challenge for silverware immediately.

Sail's also an Aucklander. And like all the 7-8 keepers who have been in around the AWs in the last few years, he will have a half eye on the 2026 WC. These guys all know that only 3 GKs can go to North America, and they are likely to be the 3 keepers starting regularly at a reasonable level. At the moment that's only Crocombe & Paulsen.  The clock is running out on the rest. It's gonna get cut throat. Tzanev, Woud, Sail, Searle & Marinovic (if he's not retired) all need to consider their next move very carefully. Gray & Sims could even come into the mix.

Perth don't want to pay Sail big wages to sit on the bench. If Auckland FC semi promise him the no 1 starting spot (with a young guy as the backup), it screams out mutual termination.
