Was thinking that the other day, that the Port seems to be a younger vibe which is great to see. Also seem to be more active on Socials than the YF. I guess with a new group they need to be. Be cool if YF up the game on the socials, maybe could get more younger members in. Also the port flags are on point imo

Seems to be a lot of young guys in the port section, which is understandable when they want to have a party and drop some smoke. Cheaper tickets helps those guys.

Doesn’t appear too many old crusty Brits in there as initially thought.

Was it only me but didn’t a large number of them take of their shirts when AFC scored.

Shirts off with 10 mins to go, likely to be displayed if they are ahead with 10 mins to go in Wellington?

Think the youngest Fever have always had an A league team their whole life and perhaps also have been coming with their parents?
Perhaps they’re a bit blasé cos they’ve always had a team? Maybe they even had Ifill posters on the wall growing up. The Phoenix are a generation old. It’s a different thing to ya Tik Tok Frankstein Auckland!

Whereas the Port is brand new and belongs to this generation. Making it up as they go along. Did think not many of these f- are over 30 as you celebrated that goal!

What was with that guy tweaking the PM’s nose? Did Ali Williams give them $30 if they tried it? Seems very much his humour if I remember anything from the 90s etc…but cringe and really funny? Eh…unless of course Nick Becker scripted it to get in the kids like the equally cringe pitch invasion…

See how they’re riding in 18 or 19 years!

Maybe the socials explain the over eagerness too. It’s always hand to hand combat in the comments. Once they’ve lost a few and had a few things go wrong and stayed up to watch games in Perth or Vic only to get smashed…Then they’ve got to find some perspective.

lol. I remember watching a late game at the Fox. Terry came in to watch with two women with him. We played baaaad and he left at halftime!

It’s cute all these suggestions from a club that’s two games old and backed by 3? 4? billionaires and pockets of millionaires.

It’s kind of like that talented kid on the team who hasn’t had the first big injury yet and had to watch as other players take his spot and do fine. No shortage of confidence.

I’m sure the Fever could do with a bit of baton changing at some point, but that already might be happening organically. The forum has been kinda quiet for about 10 years tbh! The elite and the cool kids are rarely here as much as some of us.

As well I know the youngest member on the podcast seems to pride themselves on their education and their eloquence (such a snob), so that’s a point of difference from what we’ve encountered with Auckland’s yuff so far!

What was that Black Hole Sun parody? Though that used to be mostly aimed at the North Shore…and that’s only 15 years old as a reference…

yoof

To be honest, a lot of the Fever who organise stuff are still around and doing it, but we are older, have jobs and kids now. We aren't as online much and we don't spend our whole day at the pub before kick off. We have less time to organise things. However we still are getting the banners done, we have our second march for this season planned this weekend and did that great one for the finals.

We aren't stand-offish, if people want to help or have ideas, we are more than happy for them to give it a go. I think sometimes we can be a bit blasé about things as they have tried and failed before but we won't ever stop someone from trying again (as long as it's not going to be reputation ruining).

There is some young blood coming through with the Foster Crew, but things will happen organically. There is no rush and we don't have any need to "compete" with anyone else, we've been doing it for 17 years already.
