Mariners are nowhere near the team they were last season, now on a three game winless streak and we beat them 3-0 at the same venue back in November.
Still plenty of big tests to come for Auckland this season.
Not denying any of that, but losing 4-0 last weekend at home to a team they were big favourites to beat shows that on top of the other top teams/tough venues they still have to play and travel to, there could be more underdog teams who could go and win in Auckland or back at home in Australia, in the matches to come for the rest of the season.
I had hoped the Mariners could come away with something, but Auckland came into this game as favourites to win despite coming off a thumping, because of how poor the Mariners have been so far this season, and the fact their rivals, us, beat them just as convincingly at the same venue.
