Fairly decent reasons for Oli.

The crocs don't come down as far south as Perth. Plenty of Great Whites though, and they can come in pretty close to the beaches there. They have an ocean water swimming race out to nearby Rottnest Island (19km from Freemantle), which I've always thought you must have absolute balls of steel to do.
