I watched that and immediately thought he'd done it on purpose to prove that the pitch was unplayable. He'd been complaining for at least 5 minutes beforehand and continued for a while afterwards.  

Not sure that he was aware of the possibility that stopping the game at 75ish minutes could have meant the result would stand.+

Moot point of course as the ref right let the match finish.
