So is today the biggest game for club football ever in NZ?

If it’s a win for AFC, those feel good vibes will last for a very long time.

However, their form this year has been poor to middling, with the occasional excellant game thrown in there (the last game away to the Nix and the away semi against Adelaide)

Their best provider  of goals is unlikely to be fit enough to start and with injuries the side is now playing a formation which while it worked last week, hasn’t been brought out too often. Normally players like Howieson in the side and Elliot playing at left wing back wouldn’t inspire great confidence. However with injuries, fitness concerns and the fact it worked last week, it will be rolled out again. Will it work two times?

Likely to be a tough, ugly game against the best defence of the league.

In such games, the first scorer is going to be crucial (even more importantly for AFC, considering over two years and over 50 games, they have never ever came from behind to win a game of football!)

They broke a duck last week, receiving their first ever penalty in two years against an Australian team.

Hopefully they can also overcome this second little problem if they go behind.

So far in their short existence they have taken away a minor premiership from the Australian clubs, now the hosting of a grand final.

Just one more to rub the Australians faces in it.
