“When [former FFA chairman] Frank Lowy came in there was a clause in the constitution where to become a director of FFA, a person needed to be two years divorced from any role in football, because we wanted independent people,” Walker said. “In October 2017, that was changed to 12 months and the now the CRWG want it taken away altogether.”
“We just didn’t want to change the congress membership until after the new A-League model was agreed on,” he said. “We thought it was better to have the A-League model up and running before that. We were not against it, just the timing of it."
Now they're backing Lowy because of the importance of the abstinence rule."
