Reid went down by the narrow margin of 51 per cent to 49 of the vote, with sources indicating that several members of the FA congress chose to abstain from the private ballot.
The EGM and motion to remove Reid was initiated by Football NSW, who claimed that Reid had spread damaging communication last year about their board nominee Stefan Kamasz in an effort to interfere with his election - allegations that she strongly denied.
Kamasz was a strident critic of the FA board’s handling of the controversial sacking of ex-Matildas coach Alen Stajcic in early 2019 - a saga in which Reid, one of the pioneers of the women’s game in Australia, was heavily implicated.
