With WSW, maybe they’re having a reconsider of their policy?
They had Mata and Stajich wouldn’t play him, then he became a talisman at Victory.
Then they splashed more cash on Ryan Fraser who arrived with a bang and then contributed very little and they finished below us despite what we’d think of as a reasonable squad with Kosta, Kraev, Thurgate et al.
Then Newcastle won it with kids.
Thanks MartinB, this is exactly what I've been wondering. Since finishing as runners-up in 2015-2016, WSW have not been better than bang on average, despite having a bunch of decent players including imports, and competent coaches. Puts our own travails in perspective.
WSW last ten seasons (since coming second in 2015-2016):
2025–26: 12th place

If this was us, I guess the accusations of "loser mentality" would be flying.
