What are the rules around paying contracts out? I assume that's not included in the salary?
If they pay out then its in the salary cap, if its mutual termination then its not. 
In the instance of a mutual termination, wouldn't the remainder of the contract have to be charged against the cap unless it was specifically negotiated otherwise?

I guess if another club came in wanting him then it would probably be negotiated to soften the blow against the cap for AFC.
