Given how key he has been to AFC's success, he surely gets offered a marquee level deal.

Re: Brimmer, he still has 2 years on his deal & would be on a decent wedge. They might have to try and offload him to a South East Asian side with deep pockets.
I suspect something is up with Brimmer - hope he's OK. But assuming he's on big money, surely he accepts a pay cut or they release him.

What are the rules around paying contracts out? I assume that's not included in the salary?
If they pay out then its in the salary cap, if its mutual termination then its not.
In the instance of a mutual termination, wouldn't the remainder of the contract have to be charged against the cap unless it was specifically negotiated otherwise?
I assumed that the salary cap was applied when the squad was registered.

If you don't register a player for the season, surely their contract is irrelevant?
That would be some mighty fine trickery.

It would also render player contracts as pretty much useless if that were the case.

Either that or it'd just be plain nuts to have a highly paid player under contract, but not registered to the squad. 😅
