People on this forum have short memories. After the debacle with Darije Kalezic and his sidekick Rado Vidosic, Rudan put the Nix back on the map. There was a 'line in the sand moment' where Rudan publicly questioned the A-League's attitude and approach to the Nix and from that point forward we've never looked back.

He exercised an option in his contract. Nothing illegal about that.

Yes, it was an underhand, dirty approach taking  Burgess, Kurto and Dura with him to Western United but they're all big boys and made that decision for themselves. Can't put it all on Rudan.

He found us Talay. How well has that worked out?

Rudan's a strange guy, but I give it to him. I think he's a pretty decent coach and seems to be a good man-manager/motivator. Pretty harsh from the WU hierarchy.

Rudan's hiring coincided with FIFA forcing the FFA to separate the A-League which gave the nix certainty in their future. The owners have publicly stated that it was challenging to get investment without a future, so you'd expect an independent league would coincide with an uptick in playing budget that Rudan had to work with (and even though the Nix didn't get a marquee striker they were chasing some pretty big names at the time like Guissepe Rossi and Samuel Eto'o). Nix also had an academy that they'd been working on for years which had started to push out quality players (like Singh and Cacace).

No doubt he did a good job, and he's a great speaker and is probably really strong at man management (although the rumors are he's lost the team at Western), but there are other factors which worked in his favour along side his strengths.

Also, to me, him leaving and taking players with him isn't the big deal, the big deal was that he was stringing along the owners and the fans while he knew he was leaving, he was also making signing decisions and working for Western United while still contracted to the Phoenix.
