I don't understand why the A-League is waiting until August to resume when the NRL resumes May 28.
While caution is warrented, this seems overly cautious.
The German Bundesliga resumes this weekend.
A NZ Super Rugby comp debuts June 13 with training starting this week.
All community sports are permitted in NZ from this Thursday.provided that contact tracing/health & safety compliance is assured.
Inter-club friendlies are even permitted as part of pre-season preparation for NZ domestic football sides.

If the Nix flew to Australia before the end of this month and went into two weeks of quarantine (training is permitted in quarantine as the Warriors are doing currently), then another few weeks training, the A-League could plausibly recommence by the end of June.
Dome has said that all the players remain committed, some contracts expiring at the end of May or not.
Few Nix players are not currently in NZ or Australia, so the majority of the squad is available immediately.
Must be a similar situation for other A-League clubs.
Maybe because of the reliance of the A-League on foreign players and coaches it takes more time to get teams back together than the NRL? I know Hooper and Davilla are overseas and, as you say, there's no reason to think other teams are different. We know that Fowler is back in the UK and Adelaide doesn't even have a coach right now.
