Phoenix stars praised for travel sacrifice

Wellington Phoenix have been joined in Sydney by off-shore stars Gary Hooper and Ulises Davila but they won't see their teammates for two weeks.

Full squad only have couple of weeks together lets hope they dont take long to gel again.

I wouldn't be too worried.

We seem to be one of the few clubs (along with Sydney FC) to have even retained all its overseas players.

Toivonen and Poulsen have gone from the Victory, German midfielder Mirko Boland from Adelaide, Perth Glory have lost Austrian defender Gregory Wuthrich, Northern Irishman Bobby Burns has gone from the Jets while Welsh international Joe Ledley and Irish international Wes Hoolahan seem doubtful returns, Western United have lost Croatian midfielder Dario Jertec.

Two A-League coaches are not in Australia and are doubtful to return, while two clubs have replaced foreign coaches who have quit:

Jets coach Carl Robinson is stuck in Canada and will have to undergo two weeks isolation even if he can return to Australia, same with Robbie Fowler of Brisbane who is stuck in England with the Roar seemingly not fussed to bring him back.

Victory's Spanish coach Salvachua has quit and returned to Spain, while Adelaide's Gertjan Verbeek has walked out and returned to Holland.
