The offer to Hemed was "competitive" and the offer to Davilla was the biggest in Phoenix history so there seems to be a bit of cash to splash around. Who do we go for?

Bit worrying that the rumors of a South American play maker have gone cold.

Uffie says we are in talks with CBs and a #10 here https://www.newstalkzb.co.nz/on-air/wellington/all-sport-breakfast-wellington/ufuk-talay-wellington-phoenix-coach-on-recruitment-captaincy-for-next-season/
Must have changed pretty rapidly as the Phoenix twitter account released their statement about Hemed half an hour after this interview was published (who knows when it was recorded) where Talay said the offer was still on the table with Hemed.

Also, need to take a shot whenever Talay says "at the end of the day" I listened to a podcast the other day where he must have said it at least a dozen times.

Looking at the various tweets from Garb and co, it looks like Hemed has a few clubs from around the world chasing him, WSW is one. He also rejected the NIx's offer - so we might not have wanted to engage in a bidding war. The money that they were reporting him wanting would put him in the top echelon of marquees in the A-League.

Either we found someone else, decided to divert the money to the other positions that we're in negotiations for, or just got sick of waiting.
