I have no inside knowledge, so it is only my assumption that he had no other way to return from Tokyo without paying a fare. He will stay put until the Sydney lockdown ends, and at most he would have some training locally first, probably with a NPL side etc. I may be wrong, this is just my guess.

He would have been absolutely gutted to not get any game time at the Olympics because of that injury. It'll be a tough quarantine for the guy.
