Maybe my words are a little harsh. I just don’t like to think that there’s superior defenders in the Handa who didn’t get a look in because they’re not tied into the Nix setup.
Well I think there simply are but it's likely a myriad of reasons behind it. Are they as young as Mogg? Have they had the same professional training experience and development? Do they want to play for the Nix as much as him? Were their clubs as willing to let them sign? What would their wages be?

I know you're talking about Kaltak, Mitchell, Mata, Schrijvers sort of class, and honestly I agree that I wish we looked more at the domestic league, but there's also far more complications for the Nix doing that than simply pushing through the best of the academy players.
Mogg, age 20, Citizenship: England, Kaltak, age 28, Citizenship: Vanuatu, Mitchell, age 25, Citizenship: New Zealand, Schrijvers, age 24, Citizenship: New Zealand.  Can't imagine the clubs would hold any player back from joining the Phoenix.
Becoming very similar to what it used to be to make a National Team .
If you aren't in Auckland you won't get looked at and now we have similar for National teams and the Phoenix - If you aren't in the Phoenix Academy or Ole and have paid heaps of $$$$ to be there or if you have played at some non descript low level club overseas and got very little game- you won't get looked at.( seems irrelevant if there are better players available).
Is now a user pays system to make these teams.
They seen to have blinkers on when it comes to players who have not taken their route.
