Dad played golf with members of petone rugby club who were organising against the petone arena today.

They were talking about how they were petitioning and speaking up against it. Dad asked why they were so against it and the reason was basically along the lines of "because we don't want soccer to have any of OUR grounds"

Dad said he couldn't believe the hate. And it seemed their reasons were more about hating on soccer, and an us vs them attitude, rather than any sort of logical reasoning as to why they were against it.

He also mentioned that they were council grounds, not their grounds. Which they didn't much like.

Dad tried to bring up a few other points, but they just weren't interested in any reasonable discussion.

They then concluded the conversation by saying "it's not happening" as if they're the ones who get the final say.
