For those with time free and interested in yoof football the annual Western Springs U-17 tournament kicks off Thursday at Seddon Fields, Westmere (next to the Zoo). Ends Sunday. 24 teams in the men's pool. Nix in Pool C with ACFC, Nelson Subs, Hamilton Wanderers, Hibiscus Coast, Western Springs. Squads may include 2 guest players each. See the stars of tomorrow. (I recall seeing a pint-sized Ben Old scurrying about, ex Hibiscus Coast newly Nix). Free entry, food trucks etc. AuckFC v Nix merely a diversion.
