Of course, that's only if you believe Gareth was willing to part with that much cash and not just saying it because he knew there was no way the government would agree.

Silly comment - Gareth has a track record of putting his money where his mouth is.

My take on where we are:

- The group of season ticket holders I go with are enjoying the football - eyes not bleeding from watching dire crap is a refreshing change from the last couple of seasons

- Needless to say results are disappointing not helped by completely fucked up travelling circus approach to the start of the season

- Some players are not delivering - Hernandez and Brockie. Most however are playing close to potential and others are getting better week by week e.g. Kenny and Fenton.

- We are short a couple of quality mid-fielders (have been for years) and a goal scorer (should be Brockie).

- I think Ernie needs another off season to finish freeing up salary cap and rejuvinating a squad that just got too old - I suspect Bertos, Lia and some of our aging players are chewing up more of the cap than can be justifed based on their stage of career / contribution

- I like and absolutely support what Ernie is trying to do and don't doubt the path he and the owners are taking us down (much better football to watch and youth focus) will eventually pay dividends. I do think once the cap and squad places are further freed up we will be in a better position to find an optimal balance between growing our own (i.e. youth) and bringing in a few more better players.

- I do accept we may take some attendence pain as the club goes through the transition. Luck we have owners, sponsors and hardcore supporters to see us through.
