But yes, they're damned if they do and they're damned if they don't

Personally I'd have kept Sheridan, worked harder and earlier to retain other out of contract players and signed up promising youth

We seem to think it's a good thing to say to a coach, "hey man, you even have a blank canvass to work with, yippee!"

I'd rather we said to the new coach, "we had a decent season, we kept most of the best parts of it for you, and we left some space for you to shape your team"

But we don't have a football department do we? We leave it all in the hands of one guy and in this case he's clearly been working against us. A DoF would have prevented that. Heck any form of football department would have prevented that.
