SO the club hasn't managed to retain the services of our coach, or any of our key players. Pretty much sums up our off-field operation
I can see where JD is coming from. The Nix seems to run like a pop up business. Every year we close down in autumn. Most of the staff leave. Later in the year we get things going again. New people arrive, we hand the whole thing over to them and then they scramble around to get the thing operational and then we repeat the whole process again.
At least this year we have a coach early....which is probably more about Rudan pushing us onto his buddy. You can blame the lack of a license renewal for this season but we have been doing this stuff for years. I am in JD's camp. The off field operation of this club leaves a lot to be desired. They really really need someone in charge who has some understanding of how to run a football club.
Agreed.
It's partly out of the clubs hands, but they shouldn't have;
a) Included a get out clause for Rudan
b) Left the majority of good players in our squad off contract going into our potentially last ever season
I've seen a lot of mention of this 8 week clause. I'm not sure the criticism is warranted. If you're starting point is that you can't (and probably don't want to) force someone to stay who doesn't want to be here, having a long resignation time reduces the gap between managers. In this instance, it allowed us to recruit and sign someone before the season had finished. If instead he did all this snakey actions behind the scenes, and dropped the 'I want to go home' angle after our last game, we'd be in a similar position to Victory. Obviously he could have still done that with the clause, but it may have pushed WU timeframes out further.
Come on 2nd best, you are better than that, would you be happy if all our players had a 8 week I'm off clause?
The clause was shocking and whoever put it in there I note has not even tried to justify it.
Probably because they know now how flipping dumb it was
